4-H Congratulates Equestrians

COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County 4-H Youth Development Program congratulates the winners of its 2012 4-H Equestrians of the Year Contest, held Feb. 29 at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Office in Cape May Court House.
From left to right, Kate Washart, (left), 17, Ocean View, handed over her 2011 Senior Equestrian of the Year title to Dara Baker, 16, Rio Grande. Baker is a member of the Shore Blazers 4-H Club, 4-H Teen Ambassadors, Junior 4-H Horse Council and the Moonlight Riders Mounted 4-H Drill Team. Rebecca Thompson, 15, Green Creek, won the Junior Equestrian of the Year title. Rebecca is a member of the Barnyard Buddies Club, the 4-H Equine Science Team, 4-H Teen Ambassadors, Junior 4-H Horse Council and the Moonlight Riders Mounted 4-H Drill Team. Danielle Walawender, 15, Seaville, was the First Runner Up in the Junior Division. Dara and Rebecca will represent 4-H horse clubs at events around the county and state throughout 2012.
