WOODBINE — Music and dancing, special food and lots of meeting friends marked this borough’s 16th Hispanic Festival on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Held on the northern part of the bike path, the event drew many who enjoyed the music of Ray Berrios (Los Criollo) and the dance steps of Ada Santana (Las Plenera del sur).
The afteroon’s events began with singing of the National Anthem of the U.S.A. and Puerto Rico by Loren Sofia Guerrero, 9, of Galloway.
Other who performed through the afternoon were Johnathan Mejias (Dance Crush) and Christopher Padilla (Los Revulucionarios).
Local businesses had booths at the festival.
A representative from U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez also had a table.
One of the popular culinary stops was for pork, chopped as only Jose Paco Santiago could.
“He’s our chef,” said David Rodriguez, executive director of the Puerto Rican Action Committee, who was helping to prepare the meat.
