Fabulous Family Nights at Wetlands Institute

Fabulous Family Nights continue Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Wetlands Institute, 1075 Stone Harbor Blvd., Stone Harbor with most programs featuring live animals.
July 16, Outrageous Reptiles are the stars of the show. Come face to face with snakes, turtles and lizards to learn about diverse reptilian lifestyles.
July 23, join Mad Scientists: Fire and Ice as they light up the room and make things really cool. Help with the experiments in a hot night at the Wetlands Institute.
July 30, meet four animals, Endangered or Not, from different parts of the world and learn about the status of their wild populations and how pollution, habitat loss and human intervention impact them.
Tickets are $8 adult members; $9 nonmember and children under 12, $6 member and $7 nonmember.
Enjoy a Back Bay Birding and Wildlife Tour aboard the Skimmer pontoon boat with a naturalist guide on Wednesdays at 10 a.m., 1:30 and 6 p.m. and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. through the back bays of Stone Harbor and the Hereford Inlet area.
Cost is $28, $15 for children 2 to 12 and under 2 free. Call 884-3100 for reservations.
Paddle the back bays in a kayak with a guide on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for a three-hour tour of the coastal marsh ecosystems. Single and tandem kayaks are available, $49 per person.
Enjoy the sunset while kayaking at dusk as birds head to their roost and wildlife feeds in the marshes. Sunset kayak tours are Thursdays, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and cost is $49 for a single kayak and $54 for a tandem.
Or head out as the sun sets and the moon rises for Full Moon Paddling Aug. 5 and 6 and Sept. 3 and 4, 7 to 10 p.m. This is adults only and cost is $49 per person.
Board the Skimmer for a cruise from the Wetlands Institute south to the Cape May Inlet.
Enjoy dinner at either the Lobster House or Harbor View Restaurant (not included in price) and then be whisked back to the Wetlands Institute by limo—how’s that for a fun adults-only evening.
Cruises are Thursdays, July 16, 23 and 30; Aug. 6 and 13. Call 884-3100 for exact departure times. Cost is $40 members and $45 nonmembers.
