Bits & Pieces Archaeology Program at the Avalon Library
The Avalon Free Public Library will host a Bits & Pieces Archaeology Program for grades 6 and up on Aug. 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the elementary school multipurpose room. Joseph Angemi, director of the Avalon History Center, will talk about 18th century barrier island lifestyles and participants will be able to examine artifacts. Smart Phone Users Group at the Avalon Library
The Avalon Free Public Library will hold a Smart Phone Users Group meeting on Aug. 5 from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m. Bring your smart phone with you to learn how to use its features. The instructor will be lecturing and answering questions on iPhones from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Droid & Windows phones from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.
Digital Photography at the Avalon Library
The Avalon Free Public Library will hold a Digital Photography Class on Aug. 6 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Harry Keyser will be teaching participants how to take better photos “down the shore”. Registration is required by calling 609-967-7155 or stopping by the circulation desk.
Author Lecture with Mary Doria Russell at the Avalon Library
The Avalon Free Public Library will host best-selling novelist Mary Doria Russell on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room at the elementary school. Russell has written numerous books, including A Thread of Grace, Children of God, The Sparrow, and Doc. A Q&A and book signing will follow.
Percy Jackson Mythology at the Avalon Library
The Avalon Free Public Library will hold a Percy Jackson Mythology program for ages 8 through 12 on Aug. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. Mother/Daughter Book Club – Avalon Library
Avalon Free Public Library will hold a Mother/Daughter Book Club meeting on Aug. 8 from 10 am to 11:30 a.m. The book, The Gift: How Music and Family Saved a Young Girl, is available at the library now. Open to grades 3 to 7. Aunts, grandmothers, and other women who are important in your life can also be your book club partner. PC Computer Class at the Avalon Library

Video Games at the Avalon Library
The Avalon Free Public Library will be playing video games on Aug. 9 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. All ages are welcome. The event is free and open to the public.
