County Library Hosts Garden Lecture
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Harvest of the Fall Garden” presented by Joe Alvarez at 6 p.m. on Nov. 19. The lecture will take place at the Main Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
In just a few short weeks the season for warm weather crops will come to its end, and the time to harvest your hard work will begin. Alvarez will go over all the do’s and don’ts of harvesting your fall garden, the proper harvesting time for your fruits and vegetables and tips for storing the harvest for winter.
Alvarez has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology/Environmental Science and is a Board Member of the Friends of Cape May National Wildlife Refuge and a founding member of the Cape May County Beach Plum Association.

County Library Hosts Lecture on Owls
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “How to Spot an Owl” presented by Pat Sutton at 6 p.m. on Nov. 28. The lecture will take place at the Main Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Sutton, naturalist and co-author of How to Spot an Owl, will teach when and how to look for the eight different kinds of owls that exist in Cape May County: Great Horned, Screech, Barred, Barn, Short-eared, Long-eared, Saw-whet and Snowy Owl. In this slide program, Sutton will relate her fascination with owls and convey the excitement of searching for, understanding and enjoying these illusive and mysterious nocturnal predators. Owling etiquette (how to spot owls without disturbing them) will be emphasized.
Sutton has studied the natural world for thirty years. Sutton and her husband, Clay, wrote the landmark book, Birds and Birding at Cape May, an in-depth result of their efforts over many years documenting and protecting the migration and the Cape May area. Sutton’s wildlife garden is a teaching garden included on many tours.

County Library Offers Technology Learning Program
Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library will host “Pinterest” presented by Melissa Brisbin and Jeff Trout from 6:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 15. The program will take place at the Main Library, TLC located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Pinterest is a new social networking site with a strong and stunning visual element. It is a site where you can organize various pictures and websites and share them with friends. It is the newest way to find interesting and new ideas on the web. Pinterest is a site with endless possibilities that can make surfing the web extremely fascinating.
Join us at the Cape May County Library where we will discuss the basics about Pinterest, as well as how to use it in new and effective ways.

County Library Hosts Chowder II Band
The Cape May County Library invites the public to “Dance with the Chowder II Band” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 17. The program will take place at the Sea Isle Branch Library located at 4800 Central Avenue, Sea Isle City.
The Chowder II Band will play a variety of instruments in a mixture of Ragtime, Dixieland, Swing and Country from the 20s, 30s and 40s. Come in to dance to the tunes and enjoy refreshments provided by AARP.
The Chowder II Band originated as the Brown Street Chowder Society, which formally retired in 2010. Today, the former band members continue the original musical tradition with Bobbie Stubee as Musical Director, Marianne Robinson as Business Director and Steve Samchuck as Master of Ceremonies.

Cape May Court House – Gain the knowledge you need about Diabetes. The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Diabetes: What You Need to Know” presented by Cape Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Center at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 13. The lecture will take place at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Cape Regional Medical Center’s Diabetes Center is certified through the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of approval for its Advanced In-patient Diabetes program.

County Library Hosts Movie Night
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend a viewing of Moonrise Kingdom © Focus Features. The movie will take place at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Main Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, this film tells the story of two twelve-year-olds, who fall in love, make a secret pact and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing offshore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle.

County Library Offers Aromatherapy Workshop
The Cape May County Library hosts workshop on “Household Cleaning: Naturally” presented by Kinko Hamilton. The workshop will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 16 at Sea Isle Branch Library located at 4800 Central Avenue, Sea Isle City.

Hamilton is the owner of Gracearth LLC and is a certified Aromatherapy Therapist/Instructor, Orthomolecular Nutrition Advisor by the US and Japan Cancer Control Society and the Master of Reiki by Natural Healing Clinic. Hamilton teaches aromatherapy classes in Cape May and Atlantic Counties.

The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “Printmaking 101” instructed by Paige Cunningham at 10 a.m. on Nov. 17. The workshop will take place at the Sea Isle Branch Library located at 4800 Central Avenue, Sea Isle City.
Learn a variety of simple printing methods to print, stamp and create designs…to use for cards, ornaments and gift wrap. Please wear clothes that can get messy. Participants will go home with a variety of hand-made cards and other items, plus any decorated paper you have made.
Cunningham has been creating and selling jewelry at local shops and festivals for six years and currently works for The Center for Community Arts and The Nature Center of Cape May.
