Entries in Ocean City Talent Show include varied entertainers

A varied group of entertainers have already registered to compete in the City’s seventh Annual Talent Competition set for March 13 starting at 6 p.m. at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace.
Included in the list is Mickey Marlowe, South Jersey’s premier rhythm, and blues singer who has appeared with Milton Berle, Diana Ross, Steve and Edie Gourmet and Cher. She will be joined by Lauren Van Embden, actress and director of the Levoy Theater, with a dramatic portrayal and nine year old piano prodigy, David Palomenque.
The current cast of “Pippin” at Cumberland Players of Vineland will perform a segment from the musical and Chris Maloney, director of the Ocean City Library, will do a dance routine.
Performers who will entertain between segments but not compete include Elvis performer, Ted Prior; popular soprano, Nancy Fox; singer Rene Sese, known as the Don Ho of the Philippines and Frank McCall who will perform Irish music surrounded by his attentive wolf hounds, Murphy and Jamie.
TV personality Michele Mooney will sing the National Anthem and John Walton will emcee.
The competition is open to performers of all ages. Categories include Vocal, Dancing, Instrumental, Performance Art and Best of Show. Registration fee is $10. Trophies will be presented to the top three performers in each category and there will be a Best of Show award.

Deadline for registration is tomorrow, March 4. Contest is limited to the first 40 applicants to complete and return their entry forms, supply related materials and pay fee.
Audience admission will be $5 at the door with proceeds benefiting the Art League’s special events, community outreach and art educational programs as well as City special events and recreation programs.
The program will be video taped and shown on You Tube.
