COURT HOUSE – Some say that life is a series of transitions. The Boy Scouts of America provides the means for youngsters to transition from one phase of their lives to another based on their hard work and accomplishments in scouting.
One group of eight Cub Scouts were transitioned at the Blue and Gold Crossover ceremony held at the First United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House Feb. 8.
The following Webelos Cub Scouts who earned the Arrow of Light award from Pack 65, will join Boy Scout Troop 65 to continue their journey towards adulthood:
Angelo Bromley, Nicholas Burgin, Joseph Campbell, David DeLong, Aiden Koch, Adyn Nelson, Liam Schoenleber, and Nicholas Schmidt.
According to Cub Master Brian Maund, the Webelos period in Cub Scouting consists of an 18-month series of tests in areas such as emergency first aid, hiking, some engineering, and outdoor crafts to name a few.
Maund explained that most Cub Scouts begin scouting in kindergarten. They work through that program to about the fifth grade where the transition process intensifies in order to prepare them for the Boy Scouts where there is less “hand holding,” and more self-motivational leadership.
Finally, the prospective Boy Scouts learn the 12 core values of scouting, a history of scouting, the Boy Scout pledge, uniforms and other basic knowledge they will need to make that transition from Cub to Boy Scout.
Cub Pack 65 has between 60 to 70 scouts; while the older Boy Scout Troop 65 will gain these eight members to add to the current roster of about 26 scouts.
For a very few, the next transition will be to Eagle Scout, but for now, it starts right here, as “Cubs” grow to “Boys.”

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
