SEA ISLE CITY – Matthew Baldini, 17, of Boy Scout Troop 76, completed his Eagle Scout project.
A Sea Isle City native and student at Ocean City High School, Baldini created a detailed pamphlet, “Sea Isle City Accessible To All,” that will help residents and visitors with disabilities more easily enjoy the resort.
“Sea Isle City Accessible To All” outlines the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility levels of local businesses, public facilities, churches and more, according to a release.
The booklet, which is available at the Sea Isle City Welcome Center, City Hall and elsewhere around town, also includes details about special city services, and it has QR-Codes that directly link mobile device users to the city’s Business Directory and ordinance site.
The future Eagle Scout presented 2,500 copies of the pamphlet and a display rack to the city Aug. 2 during a brief ceremony at the Welcome Center, where Mayor Leonard Desiderio, members of City Council and other city officials gathered to congratulate him.
Realizing that facilities and businesses sometimes change, Baldini also presented a check for more than $1,000 to the city, which will help sustain the brochure’s accuracy for the next five years.
“My Eagle project is designed to benefit visitors and residents alike who need information on accessible businesses in Sea Isle,” said Baldini. “It has been both a challenge and a great experience working with my family, fellow scouts, and the community in completing this project. I want to thank everyone who helped make this project a success, and I strongly urge anyone who needs information on accessibility to use this great resource, it’s even on Sea Isle City’s municipal website.”
