I’m proud to endorse Ike Gandy for Middle Township Committee and together with many of my friends and supporters, I’m working hard to win this election. Why? It’s pretty simple. I need all the help I can get to make sure we put the best interest of our taxpayers first!
Here in New Jersey, it seems that elected officials that are truly willing to fight for lower taxes (not just “reasonable” tax increases) are few and far between. Ike Gandy and I have worked together on several campaigns. I have knocked on thousands of doors in Middle Township with Ike Gandy and his fellow Carpenters Union members. What we hear from the voters, year after year, is a constant drumbeat against the relentless burden of ever-rising taxes in our state. Frustrated residents are voting with their feet, leaving the state by the thousands.
For seven years, I have fought against higher taxes, rising fees and over-regulation here in Middle Township and at the state level. We demand that the taxpayers’ interests come first!
From 2012 to 2016, Middle Township taxpayers saw no increase in the levy under Republican leadership. We also pushed back against increased taxes and fees at the state level, supporting property tax caps and health care and pension reforms that have saved our taxpayers millions of dollars. We fought for the extension of the 2% cap on salary arbitration that reined in runaway spending and helped stabilize our budget growth. We did all this while negotiating fair and equitable contracts with our unions, rewarding outstanding employees and raising the starting salary for new hires for the first time in 17 years.
Sadly, with the return to power of the entrenched special interests that ruled Middle Township for over 70 years comes the return of higher taxes and fees, growth in the size of government and plans for tax breaks for wealthy, out-of-town developers. Combined with efforts of our new governor in Trenton (who seems proud to be running the highest taxed state in America), the township’s taxpayers are back to digging ever deeper to support ever more expensive government programs.
We’ve seen nearly an 8% increase in the local property tax in just two years, and no work being done to curb future spending. Beyond that, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor have refused to push back against Governor Murphy’s radical tax and spend proposals, policies that would cost our taxpayers more, while continuing to shortchange Middle Township and Cape May County. Under the leadership of the current majority, Middle Township has jumped right back on the N.J. Tax Train. A train that only goes in one direction…up, up, up.
Middle Township voters should refuse to accept a return to this stale, tax and spend status quo.
That’s why we need Ike Gandy on Township Committee. Together, with your support, we can restore the fiscal sanity that saved millions of taxpayers’ dollars. Those aren’t empty words. We have a proven track record. We are committed to the hard work and innovative practices required to make it happen. We have proven that we can maintain excellent municipal services while keeping the tax rate flat.
I’m proud to support Ike Gandy and you should be, too. Ike has deep roots in Middle Township and comes from a family committed to public service. As a supervising Foreman for the Carpenters Union, Ike possesses proven leadership skills and knows the value of a hard day’s work. Ike Gandy will work hard to guarantee that you keep more of your hard-earned money. He’s committed to protecting the pocketbooks of our seniors on fixed incomes. He promises to work side by side with all the diverse coalitions in our neighborhoods to ensure that Middle Township is a safe, clean and caring community.
On Nov. 6, vote column one – Ike Gandy for Middle Township Committee.

Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
