Dennis Township Students Win in CMCBA Law Day Essay Contest

Law Day Essay

By Press Release

DENNIS TOWNSHIP – Dennis Township Middle School is proud to announce three 8th grade students are winners in the Cape May County Bar Association Law Day Essay Contest.
The essay topic this year was the 14th Amendment and how it impacted our country.
The three winning Dennis Township students are Morgan Kern, Jake Bryan and Mackenzie Butto.
Social studies teacher Steve Gurdgiel is thrilled that the students won the contest.
In 8th grade social studies, Gurdgiel teaches American history and government with a strong emphasis on the Constitution and the Amendments.
“Most people don’t realize how important the 14th Amendment is in terms of our civil rights and liberties,” Gurdgiel says.
He also says he is encouraged that his 8th graders performed so well in the contest because it shows they understand and appreciate the value of the material.
The students will participate in the May 4th Law Day celebration held by the Cape May County Bar Association.
