DENNIS TOWNSHIP – Thomas Champion, Treasurer of the Dennis Township Seniors Association will present a check for $500 to the Friends of Dennis Township Old School House Museum at its monthly meeting May 11.
“The association voted at its most recent meeting to make the donation,” according to Champion.
The money will be included in the Friends’ ongoing effort to raise funds to help maintain the historic school house located at 681 Petersburg Rd. in Dennisville. The Friends, a non-profit group incorporated in January, have been actively soliciting memberships and donations.
“Donations such as this will go a long way to helping us accomplish our first project goal, which is exterior painting and repairs to the school house building,” according to Ray Rebmann, Vice-Chairman of the Friends.
Rebmann added that the Friends have a GoFundMe page actively accepting donations. The group is also applying for grants and plans to more aggressively seek grant monies once “we’re more established” Rebmann indicated.
The group meets on the second Thursday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Old School House Museum. The public (and new members) are welcome to attend.
