Deadline to Nominate a Property for Beautification Award Is Sept. 6

By Press Release

SEA ISLE CITY — Each Sept., the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission distributes Beautification Awards to home and business owners who have improved or continually maintained the appearance of their properties. While determining which properties should receive the yearly awards, Environmental Commission members examine a variety of exterior features, including landscaping, architecture, the removal of overgrown shrubs and plants, and overall appearance.
A property must be nominated in order to be eligible for a Beautification Award. Anyone (including the owners themselves) can nominate a home or business by submitting an official application form. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to nominate any property they feel should be honored.
Beautification Award applications can be obtained at City Hall, 4501 Park Road (inside the former Sea Isle City Public School), at the Sea Isle City Welcome Center, 300 JFK Boulevard, or by visiting www.seaislecitynj.us. All applications must be delivered to City Hall by Sept. 6.
Judging will take place during the second week of September. 2013 Beautification Award winners will receive custom-made plaques and gift certificates on Sept. 16, during Fall Family Festival Weekend. Winners not in attendance will receive their prizes at a later date.
“This is a very nice community event because it honors those who help beautify our island,” said organizer Dudley McGinty. “It doesn’t matter if your home or business is old or new, modern or traditional. If you have made an effort to improve or maintain your property’s exterior, you should enter yourself in this contest – or enter a property that you feel deserves an award. It’s a great way to thank your neighbors who help make our town a bit more beautiful.”
