CVAC Receives American Legion’s Supporting Partner Award

VILLAS – Recently Citizens/Veterans Advisory Committee (CVAC) received a letter from The American Legion, Department of New Jersey.
According to a release, the letter from Department Commander Raymond A. Miller informed the group that it had been selected to receive a top South Jersey Supporting Partner Award.
The award recognizes the work that CVAC has done on behalf of local veterans. There was also an invitiation to attend the 101st Annual State American Legion Convention, at the Wildwoods Convention Center.
CVAC members who received the award were Johnnie Walker, Debra Moore, and Hank Houston.
Seven years ago CVAC was formed with a mission to get homeless veterans housed and at the same time engage the veteran with agencies.
Members of CVAC come from Volunteers in Medicine, Cape Counseling Services, Holy Redeemer, Catholic Charities, the Knights of Columbus, and the public and veterans from throughout the area.
Since then CVAC, along with other veterans groups, has helped veterans with bills, furniture, and other needs.
