COURT HOUSE – Not a member of 4-H but still want to show off a project at the Cape May County 4-H Fair? The open division is for you! The youth and adult open divisions at the 4-H Fair offer numerous opportunities for participants who aren’t a member of 4-H to take home a ribbon.
There are many ways you can get involved, no matter your age or talent. For example, there are open divisions that focus on fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts, health and safety, and natural sciences just to name a few. Linda Horner, 4-H Program Coordinator said, “Our goal is to increase interest in the fair by showcasing projects created by people in our community that aren’t members of 4-H and at the same time give them an opportunity to be a part of the 4-H Fair.”
Is scrap-booking your hobby or perhaps you are an expert pickle maker? If you have a love of farming or a mind for technology, you can shine in your area of expertise. If woodworking is your talent or you have a knack for fishing, the 4-H Open Division is for you.
The open division for children through third grade will receive participation ribbons for their educational posters or exhibits.
The open youth division is for fourth through twelfth graders to showcase educational posters, exhibits, handmade or self-grown products or artwork and the open adult division is for anyone out of high school who is interested in showcasing their handmade products or artwork. Winners will be featured in the fair’s Best in Show display.
All entries must meet criteria in the New Jersey 4-H Code of Conduct and exhibitors must be residents of Cape May County.
