Crest Seeks Volunteers For Coastal Cleanup

By Press Release

WILDWOOD CREST – The Borough of Wildwood Crest is seeking volunteers to participate in the world’s biggest beach cleanup Sept. 19.
Wildwood Crest is set to participate in the 30th annual International Coastal Cleanup, an event established by Ocean Conservancy, an organization that mobilizes citizen advocates to facilitate change and protect the ocean for future generations.
Individuals, families and groups are needed to remove litter along the beach between Cresse Avenue and Rambler Road. The borough will provide bags, pickers, gloves and miscellaneous supplies for all volunteers.
Volunteers will gather at 9 a.m. at Centennial Park (Fern Road and Ocean Avenue) before moving onto the beach. The event concludes at noon.
According to the Ocean Conservancy website, 560,000 volunteers in 91 countries picked up more than 16 million pounds of trash in the 2014 International Coastal Cleanup.
Groups, families or individuals interested in participating in International Coastal Cleanup Day are required to register in advance.
Contact Wildwood Crest Department of Public Works at 522-7446 or send email to Steve Shearer at sshearer@wildwoodcrest.org to register.
