COURT HOUSE – CASA for Children of Atlantic and Cape May Counties seeks individuals interesting in becoming volunteer court advocates for children living in foster care. Individuals who would like to learn more should attend one of the two upcoming Information Sessions March 4 at 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the CASA office on Shore Road in Somers Point. The session explains the role and responsibilities of a CASA volunteer and also gives an overview of the CASA program and outlines the training requirements. Those who would like to attend should register by calling (609) 601-7800 or emailing John Oelkers at john@atlanticcapecasa.org.
“Unfortunately, more children are entering the system each month and the number of children in care in Atlantic and Cape May Counties has grown to over 1,000. CASA currently only has the volunteer capacity to serve 40 percent of those children Additional volunteers, especially men, are needed to provide an advocate to all children who need one,” said CASA Director of Community Development Karen DeRosa. “Volunteers do not need any special skills and training is provided. Being a CASA advocate is a great way to change the course of a child’s life right here in our community.”
Trained CASA volunteers advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the foster care system and are dedicated to ensuring these children are placed in safe permanent homes as quickly as possible. For more information about CASA, visit www.AtlanticCapeCASA.org.
Cape May – Governor Murphy says he doesn't know anything about the drones and doesn't know what they are doing but he does know that they are not dangerous. Does anyone feel better now?
