Freeholder Leonard Desiderio and Sheriff Gary Schaffer invite the residents of Cape May County to join them and Shelter staff in celebrating the seventh birthday of the Cape May County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center. The week-long celebration, to commemorate the Shelter’s opening in July of 2004, includes reduced adoption fees, free services and tours of the facility.
On Friday, July 15, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. join the Animal Shelter and Adoption Center’s staff for an open house complete with refreshments and a tour of the facility. Also, starting July 15th through July 21st, all adoption fees will be cut in half. Adoption fees include spay/neuter procedures, microchipping, vaccinations and a free vet visit.
Sheriff Schaffer, who oversees the operation of the shelter, said, “We appreciate how generous and supportive our residents have been to the Animal Shelter. Throughout the week, we will be offering some free services to pet owners as a way of giving back to the community.” Sheriff Schaffer added, “Also, we hope visitors will spread the word about the wonderful cats and dogs that are presently up for adoption at our Shelter.”
County residents can call the Shelter and make an appointment to receive free nail trimming and microchipping for their cats and dogs. The microchipping includes lifetime registration with Home Again, a nationwide pet recovery service.
The Cape May County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center is located at 110 Shelter Road in the Crest Haven Complex (exit 10 off the Garden State Parkway). The Shelter is open to the public Monday through Friday 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
