County Library Announces May Programs and Events

COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Library will host the following events during the month of May.
Art @ the Library in Lower!
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 6-10 to Art @ the Library presented by the Cape May Center for Community Arts. The program will take place at the Lower Cape Branch Library Wednesday, May 4th, 11th, and 18th from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The Lower Cape Branch Library is located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas.
Children ages six through ten are invited to enjoy Art @ the Library. Activities combine literature and art where children read a book and create a work of art using a variety of media and styles. Parental participation is welcomed. These programs are presented by the Community Center for the Arts. For more information, call (609) 884-7525.
Family Dance Party
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 2-5, and their caregivers to attend a Family Dance Party to be held May 9 at 10:00 a.m. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Kids ages 2-5 and their caregivers are invited to come show off their dance skills at the Court House Library! Put on your dancing shoes, bring your family, and join us for a fun interactive program featuring music, movement and more!
Library Hosts Kitchen Wizards
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 5-12, to Kitchen Wizards! The program will take place twice May 21 and kids can register for one of the two sessions. The first session will take place at 10:30 a.m. and the second will take place at 12:00 p.m. The programs will be held at the Main Branch of the Library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
In this tasty program, presented by Kitchen Wizards, children will “Eat Like the Presidents.” Kitchen Wizards helps kids discover the magic of cooking, one bite at a time, through culinary enrichment programs. Plenty of samples to take home and copies of recipes provided. Kids age 5-12 are invited to participate. Space is limited and registration is required. Recipe ingredients may include or may have come in contact with nuts.  Please do not register your child if they have a nut allergy.

The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 6-10 to Art @ the Library presented by the Cape May Center for Community Arts. The program will take place at the Wildwood Crest Branch Library Tuesdays, May 3, 10, and 17 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The Wildwood Crest Branch Library is located at 6300 Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood Crest.

Free Comic Book Day
The Cape May County Library invites readers of all ages to stop by their library branch at any time during open hours May 7 to pick up a free comic book while supplies last. Available comics will include titles for all ages, teen, and adult audiences. The Cape May County Library is pleased to partner with Level Up Entertainment of Mays Landing for this special opportunity. Patrons are also invited to check out each Cape May County Library branch collection of comics, graphic novels, and manga available to check out with your library card!

LEGO Club
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 5 to 12 years old, and their caregivers to attend our LEGO Clubs. LEGO Club will be held at four of the library’s branches throughout May.
In order to develop a theme for each meeting, we’ll read books to get ideas about what to construct and then bring out the LEGOs and build, build, build! Parents are encouraged to stay through the meetings and build with their kids.

Messy Masterpieces
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 2-5, and their caregivers to Messy Masterpieces to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays, May 5 and 12.  The programs will take place at the Lower Cape Branch library located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas.
Toddlers, ages 2-5, and their caregivers are invited to explore their creativity with a weekly hour-long art program, featuring stories and a sensory art project. Held at the Lower Cape branch of the Cape May County Library. Dress for mess!!
National Readathon Day
Cape May Court House – The Cape May County Library invites children of all ages and their families to celebrate National Readathon Day May 23. The program will take place during our open hours of 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and the Main Branch of the library is located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Read a book with us at the Court House Library for National Readathon Day. Pick out a book from the shelves or from our staff suggestions. Readers of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in our Read Away Fines program. For every 15 minutes a patron reads, $2 will be waived from their overdue fines. Treats will also be available.
Creative Writing Club
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 8-12, to join Writers Rock which will take place at 6:00 p.m. May 23. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Kids, ages 8-12, are invited to join Writers Rock, the library’s creative writing club! We’ll meet (usually) the fourth Monday of the month to do fun writing activities and let our creative juices flow. You will even have the opportunity to share your writing with the group if you choose.
Papercraft Jedi Program
The Cape May County Library invites children of all ages and their families to create a papercraft Jedi from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. May 6. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
May the 4th Be with You! Celebrate all things Star Wars at the Court House Library by creating origami versions of some popular Star Wars characters, based off the books by Tom Angleberger. This event is co-hosted by the Children’s Department and the Technology Learning Center. All kids are invited to try their hand at this fun activity.
Sensory Storytime
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 2 and up, and their caregivers to a Sensory Storytime. The program will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 6 at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Children, ages 2 and up, and their caregivers are invited to attend a sensory storytime that seeks to be all inclusive and specifically serves differently-abled children. Children will enjoy interactive stories, songs and instruments, and sensory elements.
