County Library Announces February Events for Children

COURT HOUSE – The Cape May County Library will host the following events and activities for children during the month of February:
Art @ the Library in Cape May!
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 6-10 to Art @ the Library presented by the Cape May Center for Community Arts. The program will take place at the Cape May City Branch Library Thursdays, Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The Cape May City Branch Library is located on Ocean & Hughes Streets in Cape May.
Children ages six through ten are invited to enjoy Art @ the Library. Activities combine literature and art where children read a book and create a work of art using a variety of media and styles. Parental participation is welcomed. These programs are presented by the Community Center for the Arts. For more information, call (609) 884-7525.
Art @ the Library in Wildwood Crest!
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 6-10 to Art @ the Library presented by the Cape May Center for Community Arts. The program will take place at the Wildwood Crest Branch Library Tuesdays, Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. The Wildwood Crest Branch Library is located at 6300 Atlantic Avenue in Wildwood Crest.

Family Movies
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 6-12, and their families to attend our Family Movie programs. The first screening will take place at 6:00 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Main Branch of the Library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House. A second screeningwill be held at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Lower Cape Branch of the Library, located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas.
Kids, ages 6-12, and their families are invited to watch this month’s featured film on our big screen with surround sound! Watch the movie, enjoy snacks and drinks, and relax for free at your library! This month’s filmis rated PG.
Homeschool Social (Technology Field Trip!)
The Cape May County Library invites families to a Homeschool Social to be held at 11:00 a.m. Feb. 18. The event this month will take place at the Main Branch of the Library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
**Technology Field Trip at the Court House Library!** This month, we’ll be meeting at the Court House Library! Head up to the second floor to the Technology Learning Center to explore all the latest technology available at the library! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with other families who homeschool and explore the library’s vast resources.
Leap Day Craft
The Cape May County Library invites children of all ages and their families to visit any of our branches Feb. 29 to celebrate Leap Day with a craft.
Visit any branch of the Cape May County Library to try your hand at some frog origami and celebrate Leap Day! Materials will be provided at all branches and will be out all day, with instructions. Froggy coloring pages will also be available. Have fun!

Messy Masterpieces
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 2-5, and their caregivers to Messy Masterpieces to be held at 9:30 a.m. every Thursday in February.  The programs will take place at the Lower Cape Branch library located at 2600 Bayshore Road in the Villas.
Toddlers, ages 2-5, and their caregivers are invited to explore their creativity with a weekly hour-long art program, featuring stories and a sensory art project. Held at the Lower Cape branch of the Cape May County Library. Dress for mess!!
Sensory Storytime
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 2 and up, and their caregivers to a Sensory Storytime. The program will be held at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 5th at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Children, ages 2 and up, and their caregivers are invited to attend a sensory storytime that seeks to be all inclusive and specifically serves differently-abled children. Children will enjoy interactive stories, songs and instruments, and sensory elements.
Creative Writing Club
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 8-12, to join Writers Rock which will take place at 6:00 p.m. Feb. 29. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Kids, ages 8-12, are invited to join Writers Rock, the library’s creative writing club! We’ll meet (usually) the fourth Monday of the month to do fun writing activities and let our creative juices flow. You will even have the opportunity to share your writing with the group if you choose.
Family Dance Party
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 2-5, and their caregivers to attend a Family Dance Party to be held Feb. 8 at 10:00 a.m. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Kids ages 2-5 and their caregivers are invited to come show off their dance skills at the Court House Library! Put on your dancing shoes, bring your family, and join us for a fun interactive program featuring music, movement and more!
Harry Potter Book Night
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 5-12, and their caregivers to a Harry Potter Book Night. The program will take place at 6:00 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Main Branch of the Library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
We are very excited to announce A Night of Spells as the theme for Harry Potter Book Night 2016. Whether it is the disarming Expelliarmus or the dreaded Avada Kedavra, spells are at the very heart of the Harry Potter books so it’s the perfect time to try out some spells with your own wand, win House points at trivia, and make magical potions!
Kitchen Wizards
The Cape May County Library invites kids, ages 5-12, to Kitchen Wizards! The program will take place twice Feb. 20 and kids can register for one of the two sessions. The first session will take place at 10:30 a.m. and the second will take place at 12:00 p.m. The programs will be held at the Main Branch of the Library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’ll celebrate the colors of love. Children will make goodies to share with their first Valentines – their parents! We’ll concentrate on treats that are the colors associated with Feb. – red, pink, and white! Kitchen Wizards helps kids discover the magic of cooking, one bite at a time, through culinary enrichment programs.  Kids, ages 5-12, are invited to participate.  Recipe ingredients may include or may have come in contact with nuts.  Please do not register your child if they have a nut allergy.

LEGO Club
The Cape May County Library invites children, ages 5 to 12 years old, and their caregivers to attend our LEGO Clubs. LEGO Club will be held at four of the library’s branches throughout Febuary.
In order to develop a theme for each meeting, we’ll read books to get ideas about what to construct and then bring out the LEGOs and build, build, build! Parents are encouraged to stay through the meetings and build with their kids.

S.T.E.A.M. Club
The Technology Learning Center invites children, ages 8-14, to attend S.T.E.A.M. Club meetings. The club will meet at 5:00 p.m. on Fridays, Feb. 5 and 19 at the Main Branch of the library, located at 30 W. Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.
The TLC invites kids, ages 8 to 14, to explore the basics of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. We will meet twice a month and have a new S.T.E.A.M. project. Parents and guardians are welcome to join us as we explore the forces that will drive innovation in the 21st century.
