COURT HOUSE – Freeholder Vice-Director Leonard Desiderio and Cape May County Library Director Deborah Poillon accepted a donation of books from the Mount Calvary Consistory No. 22, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (PHA) at the Main Library on Nov. 4, 2011.
Several volumes of the “History of The United Supreme Council Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Affiliation, Northern Jurisdiction, U.S.A., Inc. 1881-1998” book by author Joseph A. Walkes, Jr. were donated for use at the Main Library, the Cape May City Library, the Woodbine Branch and in the Library’s Bookmobile.
The purpose of this program, initiated approximately five years ago, is to expose readers to this very unique and proud history of African American Scottish Rite-Prince Hall Affiliated Freemasons creating a greater appreciation of the contributions of the men and the organization to the growth and development of their community and the nation.
Freeholder Desiderio said, “The Cape May County Library is proud to be a location selected to showcase the rich history of this organization and the contributions they make to our society.”
