Construction Closes New Jersey Avenue

WILDWOOD – The City of Wildwood Police Department, in conjunction with the County of Cape May, would like to notify the residents and visitors of Wildwood of impending road construction. This road construction will involve the closure of normal traffic on New Jersey Avenue from Rio Grande to Spencer Avenues.
Effective Mon., March 5, 2012 traffic on New Jersey Avenue between Rio Grande Avenue and Davis Avenue will be closed to traffic, with the exception of one lane of traffic open to South bound traffic only.
Beginning Mon., March 12, 2012 this closure will extend from Rio Grande Avenue to Spencer Avenue on New Jersey Avenue. Again there will be one lane of traffic open for South bound traffic only. No north bound traffic will be permitted.
Once the road construction has been completed on the east side of New Jersey Avenue, the project will move to the west side of New Jersey Avenue. At this time, no traffic will be permitted South bound on New Jersey, however there will be one lane open for North bound traffic only.
Upon completion of these projects, the construction will move to Rio Grande Avenue South to Cresse Avenue. More information will be provided concerning this street closure at it approaches.
Residents and visitors are urged to avoid the construction areas, and asked to utilize paralleling streets to navigate through town, such as Park Boulevard, Arctic Avenue, Pacific Avenue, Atlantic Avenue and Ocean Avenue.
Also please pay close attention to any directional signals, traffic signs or detours posted in the area, as these are there to assist you in avoiding the construction areas. Lastly we ask you to please drive safely and ensure that all vehicle passengers are buckled up for their own safety.
This closure will be lengthy, but with the cooperation of our residents and visitors, this project should be completed by the 2012 Memorial Day Weekend.
