COURT HOUSE — Twelve winners of the 25th Annual My County Poster Contest were selected from among entries submitted by 272 fourth grade students from 11 elementary schools who participated in the contest sponsored by Cape May County’s Constitutional Officers – Surrogate M. Susan Sheppard, Sheriff Gary G. Schaffer and County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti.
The winners are as follows:
1st Place, Leiah Pawlus, Cape Trinity Catholic School
2nd Place, Chance Ginyard, Margaret Mace School
3rd Place, Rowan Becica, Maud Abrams Elementary School

The winning posters were selected on March 17 by judges Pary Tell of the Cape May County Division of Culture and Heritage, Andrea Orsini and Kellie Maiorana of the Cape May County Library.
All twelve winners, along with their families, friends and school personnel will be invited to participate in the My County Poster Contest Awards Ceremony taking place on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in the Cape May County Courts Facility.
All twelve winners will receive a tote filled with items and a personalized mug. The 1st place winner will also receive a $100.00 gift card plus a pizza party with his/her home room classmates, 2nd and 3rd place winners will each receive a $50.00 gift card.
“The themes of this year’s entries were very creative,” Fulginiti said. “Farm to table dining, aquaculture, Victorian architecture, Lunch with Lynch of the Wildwood Convention Center, the Cape May County Park/Zoo, beaches, marshes and sea life were among this year’s clever entries.”
The annual event is hosted by the Constitutional Officers during April – National County Government Month to bring awareness of the function of county government to fourth graders, who regularly study the topic as part of their curriculum. The winning posters will be displayed in the Court House Lobby during the month of April to commemorate County Government Month and will be featured on a 2018 color poster calendar distributed to the winners and 2018 fourth grade class.
