COURT HOUSE — In its ongoing efforts to connect with and serve veterans, the Middle Township Veterans Advisory Board will have a booth at the Township’s Harvest Festival on Oct. 24 (rain date Oct. 25). The board members look forward to meeting Middle Township veterans, sharing information, and most importantly listening to veterans’ concerns and recommendations on how the Middle Township Veterans Advisory Board can assist them. Information and applications regarding Cape May County and Middle Township benefits, as well as the Middle Township Veterans Advisory Board brochure and American Legion brochures will be available at the booth.
Two of the top priorities of the Veterans Advisory Board are ensuring the registration of Middle Township’s veterans and raising awareness regarding the many benefits available to eligible Honorably Discharged Veterans. Some of those benefits include Federal Benefits for Veterans, Dependents and Survivors; Middle Township Veterans Property Tax Deduction; Veterans Honorable Discharge Recording with the Cape May County Clerk; Cape May County Veterans Photo Identification Card; Veterans discounts at many Cape May County businesses; and membership with Middle Township’s American Legion Post #198.
Business owners are encouraged to show their support for Middle Township Veterans by providing veterans’ discounts. Applications to provide such discounts will also be available at the booth, which will be located on Mechanic Street – the second booth from Main Street – on the side of the Bank of America building.
The Veterans Advisory Board has met for five months and is working diligently on initiatives to improve the quality of life for Middle Township’s veterans. The Board has had three guest speakers at their meetings to assist them in their initiatives: Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti, Director of Cape May County Veteran’s Bureau Virginia Tomlin, and Editor of CMC Digest Beau Weisman. As a means of sharing information with our veterans, the Middle Township Veterans Advisory Board members had a booth at the Middle Township National Night Out in Aug.
“As Chairperson of the Veterans Advisory Board, I am extremely fortunate to be working with such enthusiastic individuals, dedicated to improving the quality of life for our Middle Township veterans,” said Maureen Harden-Lozier.
