WILDWOOD CREST – The 2017 “Get on Your Board Tour” made the surfing dream come true June 18 on the beach in this borough.
According to the organization’s website, “Hundreds of volunteers, people of all ages with disabilities, and entire families come together for an epic day in the ocean.”
The event began at 7 a.m., and volunteers assisted entrants to get registered.
Riders had to supply their wetsuits, fins, life jacket, and towels, but all other paraphernalia was supplied. They included adaptive surfboards and beach transfer wheelchairs.
Lunch was provided by Life Rolls On organization.
Founded by world champion quadriplegic surfer Jesse Billauer, Life Rolls On is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury.
Believing that adaptive surfing and skating could inspire infinite possibilities beyond paralysis, Life Rolls On began as a splash into the unknown Sept.11, 2001; achieved 501c3 nonprofit status in 2002; and touches the lives of hundreds of thousands.
