By

CAPE MAY – Veterans Committee Chairman Derick Delima of the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) Local 105, asked Assemblyman Robert Andrzejczak (D-1st) for help in collecting care packages for troops overseas. They originally prepared to donate to troops stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq but so many goods were donated that they are expecting to donate to more places overseas.
Many nonperishable items were gathered through Cape May County from schools and organizations such as the Cape May VFW 386 on Congress Street in Cape May. Collected were hygiene goods such as baby wipes, canned goods such as tuna and Chef Boyardee, and prepackaged goods such as cookies and crackers.
Delima came from Toms River, N.J. with a rental truck to collect the donations Feb. 26 at the Cape May VFW Post 386 in Cape May and the Van Drew Team office on Main Street in Court House.
