COURT HOUSE – Do you strain to hear when someone is speaking? Do you often ask family and friends to repeat themselves? Do you have difficulty hearing on the telephone? If so, you are not alone, approximately 36 million American Adults have reported some degree of hearing loss.
The Hearing Loss Association – South Jersey Shore Chapter was created and is designed to bring together the people of the community who are hard of hearing. Members share strategies and tips for coping with a hearing loss. They also provide information on assistive listening devices, such as, captioned telephones and web captioning and also advocate for communication accessibility for the hard of hearing.
The next monthly meeting is May 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Maruchi Room at Cape Regional Medical Center. Join us to meet others like you and hear about our experiences. Refreshments will be served.
Save the date for June 19th. The group will host Ivette Guillermo, licensed counselor. She will discuss self-empowerment and stress busting strategies. Future meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of each month. For more information, please contact Bonnie Kratzer, RN, Coordinator for the Center of Lifestyle Management at 609-463-4043 or e-mail sjhardofhearing@gmail.com.
