COURT HOUSE – Rutgers Cooperative Extension Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Group will meet May 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Cape May County, 355 Courthouse-South Dennis Road, Court House. The building is handicap accessible.
Dr. Naomi Jones, senior director of Outpatient Services for Jewish Family Service of Atlantic and Cape May counties (JFS) will be the guest presenter. Jones will talk to grandparents about the services that JFS provides in Cape May County for children and teens impacted by trauma.
Jones is a licensed clinical psychologist and co-founder of the Specialty Center for Youth Interventions at JFS which provides outpatient counseling for youth affected by emotional trauma or who have displayed disruptive behaviors. Over the past four years, she developed and expanded Cape May Trauma Treatment which provides outpatient trauma counseling to child and adolescent residents of Cape May County.
Childcare will be provided for the grandchildren. A light supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the program will follow at 6 p.m. There is no charge for this program, however, advanced registration is required.
