American Legion Post, Community Assist Residents Affected by Storm

American Legion Post

By George Capua

WILDWOOD – After Winter Storm Jonas, the Island Community Connection teamed up with Wildwood American Legion Post 184 for assisting local residents who have been affected by the recent storm where many lost appliances, food and clothing.
A few tons of clothing, for men, women and children has been donated by families and businesses throughout the area and as far away as Pennsylvania. The donations included non-perishable foods, shoes, baby diapers, bottles of water, and other basic necessities. Some of the donations included cash and gift cards which purchased other needed items. Social media was used to get many of the donations.
This endeavor is a community effort where even local restaurants helped by providing lunches for the 23 volunteers.
Per Joseph Manzoni, one of the key volunteers and leaders, this started Jan. 26 and will go to Feb. 9. The last day will include anyone in need in the Wildwoods.
