CAPE MAY – The Coast Guard Recruit Training Board of Advisors is holding their quarterly meeting at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May to review and validate the vision, mission, strategic plan and purpose of recruit training.
The board is expected to provide input and support to several training center initiatives like the Aviation Survival Technician preparatory program as well as to review the results of last year’s Council on Recruit Basic Training meeting that addressed common issues in basic training amongst all five armed services. Additionally, the board will review analysis regarding the selection and training policies for company commanders who would be responsible for preparing recruits for service.
“These meetings are paramount to our mission success,” said Cmdr. Joseph Meuse, the executive officer of Training Center Cape May. “The members of the board advocate our needs to the highest levels of command in our service to help ensure we are producing the best Coast Guard men and women who are willing to serve the American public.”
In addition to reviewing the needs of the training center, members of the board can get familiarized with the Coast Guard’s relationship to the local area.
“We are always pleased to be given the opportunity to showcase our relationship to Cape May County to our visitors,” said Meuse. “This is the Coast Guard’s Hometown and big part of our culture.”
The board consists of leaders throughout the Coast Guard including Rear Adm. David Throop, commander of Coast Guard Force Command, Rear Adm. Kurt Hinrichs, director of the Coast Guard’s Reserve and Military Personnel Directorate, Deputy Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard, Leilani CaleJones and many others.
The meeting is scheduled to end Wednesday.
