USCG Training Center Hosts Board of Advisors and Coast Guard Enlisted Person of the Year Ceremony

CAPE MAY – Coast Guard Recruit Training Board of Advisors held their quarterly meeting April 17 at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May, to review and validate the vision, mission, strategic plan, and purpose of recruit training. 
The board was expected to provide input and support to several training center initiatives like the new Blended Retirement System and transgender preparedness.
“The topics discussed by our Board of Advisors is paramount to our mission success,” stated Cmdr. Brian Krautler, executive officer of Training Center Cape May, in a release. “The members of the board advocate our needs to the highest levels of command in our service to help ensure we are producing Coast Guard men and women fit for the rigors of the service.”
In addition to reviewing the needs of the training center, members of the board could get familiarized with the Coast Guard’s relationship to the local area.
“We are always pleased to be given the opportunity to showcase our relationship with Cape May County to our visitors,” said Krautler. “This is the Coast Guard’s hometown and big part of our culture.”
The board consists of leaders throughout the Coast Guard including Rear Adm. Keith Smith, commander of Coast Guard Force Readiness Command and Master Chief Leilani L. Cale-Jones, deputy master chief petty officer of the Coast Guard.
The meeting was scheduled to end April 18.
