CAPE MAY – At 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, the U.S. Coast Guard will deploy a new navigational aid in front of the Nature Center of Cape May in Cape May Harbor.
While the beacon is deployed, Coast Guard personnel will also be on shore explaining the process and the importance the U.S. Coast Guard places on not disturbing the birds who like to nest on navigational aids to youth taking science classes at the nature center. Upon completion of the deployment, Coast Guard personnel will be bringing a boat on shore for the class’s exploration.
The experience will be a fascinating and educational experience for the nature center’s Harborside Explorers class, a group of 4th-7th grade youngsters studying marine science and marine-related careers.
The Nature Center of Cape May is located at 1600 Delaware Ave., in Cape May.
