PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard responded to a fishing boat that ran aground Wednesday, April 8 in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.
Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay is overseeing commercial salvage operations to offload fuel and oil to prevent possible pollution.
The Atlantic City-based 77-foot fishing boat, Capt. Gavin, which ran aground one mile south of Manasquan Inlet, is scheduled to be towed to a dry dock facility in Staten Island, New York. The Coast Guard is working with the vessel’s owners to reduce the risk of pollution while waiting for inclement weather to subside so the vessel can be re-floated.
No injuries, pollution or damage have been reported.

A crewmember aboard the 77-foot fishing boat, Capt. Gavin, homeported in Atlantic City, and contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay at approximately 5:15 a.m. reporting the boat ran aground one mile south of Manasquan Inlet.
The three people aboard reported no injuries.
Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet launched a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew in response to the vessel aground. Station Manasquan Inlet also had a crew on the beach monitoring the situation.
No pollution or damage has been reported.
