Sole Survivor of Fishing Boat Sinking Released from Hospital

ATLANTIC CITY — Robert Mark Cooper, of Point Pleasant, the sole survivor of the sinking of the fishing boat Alisha Marie was released from AtlanticCare Regional Medical Center Dec. 25.
Two other crew members from the Alisha Marie have not been located. The 38-foot scallop boat sank about 26 miles east of Barnegat Light Dec. 23 after being hit by a large wave.
The Coast Guard ended its search for crew members William Brown Jr. and Joseph Bell, both of Newport News, Va., Dec. 24.
The Coast Guard searched covered an area of about 2,700 square miles.
According to UPI, Cooper, was found on a life raft, wearing only shorts and a T-shirt.
The loss of the two Alisha Marie crew members brings the death toll of commercial fisherman with ties to the Port of Cape May to nine including the sinkings of the Sea Tractor and Lady Mary.
