Firefighters, Coast Guard Respond to Minor Fueling Mishap at Marina

LOWER TOWNSHIP– Erma firefighters and the U.S. Coast Guard were called to a fueling mishap at the dock of the Harbor View Marina on Fri., Oct. 8 at 11:00 a.m.
Fire officials said, 36 gallons of fuel was pumped into the bilge of the 23 foot boat the Yo Jo by a person who accidentally pumped gasoline into a fishing rod holder instead of the nearby gas tank. The fuel ended up in the bilge, a lower compartment on the boat.
Official’s said the incident was “very minor” and no fuel spilled into the water.
Sea Tow responded to the scene and towed the boat back to their dock where the fuel will be pumped off.
