Coast Guard Medevacs Man 47 Miles East of Cape May

ATLANTIC CITY — The Coast Guard medevaced a man March 6 after he suffered a leg injury aboard a vessel 356 miles east of Cape May.

At 12:30 p.m. March 5, Fifth District watchstanders were notified that the captain of the 274-meter long Almi Voyager motor transport had suffered a leg injury. 

An Air Station Atlantic City MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched at 9:30 a.m. March 6 and met the Almi Voyager 47 miles east of Cape May at 10 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. the crew hoisted the captain, and they arrived at Atlantic City Trauma Center at 11:10 a.m.

The captain was last reported in stable condition. The Almi Voyager continued to Big Stone Anchorage in the Delaware Bay.
