Coast Guard Medevacs Fisherman Near Cape May

CAPE MAY– The Coast Guard medevaced a 61-year-old man from aboard an 88-foot boat 50 miles off the coast of Cape May Saturday.
The Coast Guard received a call at 7:47 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the Eileen Marie, homeported in New Bedford, Mass., reporting the man was accidentally hit by a scallop dredge and barely responsive.
A rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., arrived on scene and hoisted the man on their helicopter.
The man was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment.
