COURT HOUSE – United States Coast Guard SN Ian Sullivan was honored at a private graduation ceremony held in the fourth floor solarium of Cape Regional Medical Center. As Semper Paratus (U.S. Coast Guard official march) played, Chief Petty Officer Jeremy Bruner presented SN Sullivan with his graduation certificate while his mother, Tamela Turbeville, aunt, uncle, United States Coast Guard representatives and Medical Center staff looked on.
Graduations are traditionally held on Friday’s at 11 a.m. at the Ida Lewis Auditorium at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May. Due to his hospitalization, SN Sullivan was unable to participate in the formal ceremony. After the private ceremony, family and friends enjoyed some light refreshments and some photographs.
“I cannot thank Cape Regional Medical Center enough for this tremendous gesture,” stated Turbeville. “We traveled here from Arkansas to be at Ian’s graduation. We attended the full ceremony this morning at the base with Ian’s fellow recruits and never expected a private ceremony like this at the hospital. Thank you so much and thank you for the great care you are providing to my son.”
Cape Regional Medical Center appreciates the family’s willingness to share this story.
