The Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation recently announced that Nina Ranalli has been elected to the foundation’s board of trustees. Ranalli will lead the foundation’s newly formed education committee.
Ranalli is no stranger to the Coast Guard Community Foundation. She served as the foundation’s first executive director from 2015-2017 and helped launch the Coast Guard Community Festival.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nina back to the Coast Guard Community Foundation,” said Will Morey, foundation chair. “We believe the depth of her experience, especially in history and community programming, will be extremely valuable as we expand our educational programs in the community.”
Ranalli presently serves as the director of the Avalon History Center and is responsible for strategic planning, public relations, collection acquisition and community programming. She graduated with honors from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies, and earned a Masters of Arts in American Material Culture from the University of Delaware and Winterthur Museum.
“There is a long and meaningful history between the Coast Guard and our region,” said Ranalli. “I am eager to help bring that history to life for the community.”
The Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that honors the men and women of the United States Coast Guard who serve our country, and celebrates the county’s designation as a Coast Guard Community. Founded in 2015, the foundation partners with Cape May County, its 16 municipalities and other community partners to present activities throughout the year that educate about the deep connections between the Coast Guard and the region.
To better continue its work, the foundation is seeking business and community members to serve on its Board of Trustees. Trustees should have a strong interest in the culture and heritage of the county and a passion for the Coast Guard. The foundation is seeking candidates for two positions. Individuals with expertise in development and finance and who represent the central (Avalon to Wildwood, including Middle Township) and southern (Wildwood Crest to Cape May, including Lower Township) parts of the county are strongly encouraged to apply.
Trustees serve two-year terms. The board meets monthly on the second Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce.
Interested individuals are asked to submit a letter of interest along with a resume to Mike Couch, Executive Director, at mike.couch@coastguardcommunity.org or P.O. Box 1365, Rio Grande, NJ 08242.
