Coast Guard Community Foundation Announces Youth Art Contest

CAPE MAY – The Coast Guard Community Foundation is pleased to announce an art contest for students 5-14 years old for Cape May County students. Artwork must celebrate and honor our Coast Guard heroes, neighbors, and friends. After all, Cape May County is the Coast Guard’s hometown. This art contest is part of the annual Coast Guard Festival, scheduled for May 3-6.
There are two participant age brackets: elementary, 5-10 years old, and middle school age, 11-14 years old. A winner will be selected from each age bracket. All participants must be residents of Cape May County. All qualifying submissions must:

  • Be two-dimensional artwork; any media is acceptable
  • Conform to a maximum size: 22”X28”
  • Be original artwork submitted in hard copy, care of:

  • Include artist’s name, age, full mailing address, telephone number and email address on the back of submission.

  • Deadline to submit entries: April 20.
  • Winners to be announced by April 27.

 All entries will be on display at the Nature Center of Cape May’s Education Hall beginning April 28.
A special Open House will occur on the same day as the festival, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Center, in conjunction with the Center’s Create Art Today experience.
The winning student and parent/guardian will be invited to the Festival Brunch to be held on the morning of May 6 at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal building in North Cape May. The artwork will be displayed at the brunch and the student will be honored by the Foundation’s Board, Cape May freeholders, and the commanding officer, Coast Guard Training Center, Cape Ma.
Contest Rules and Regulations

  • No entry fee is required.
  • By submitting an entry to this contest, the artist grants the Cape May County Coast Guard Community Foundation the rights to the work. This is necessary in order to display and publish the winning artwork.
  • All entries must be original. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
  • Excessive violence, sex or religious extremism, determined by the judges, will result in disqualification.
  • Entries may not have been previously published or entered in professional media.
  • All entries are final; no revisions will be accepted.
  • The decisions of the judges are entirely their own and final.

The winner will be individually notified of the results by email and/or telephone.
