CAPE MAY – A kayaker capsized in the area of Cape May Inlet April 8 shortly before 11 a.m. and was rescued by the Coast Guard.
According to a release, a commercial fisherman saw a person in the water and a capsized kayak. He reported that to the Coast Guard at Sector Delaware Bay Command Center in Philadelphia via VHF-FM radio channel 16.
The Coast Guard dispatched a 29-foot response boat crew from Station Cape May.
Once on scene, crewmembers were able to remove the man from the water and transported him to Station Cape May, where he met local emergency medical service personnel for evaluation.
“If you see something, say something,” stated Petty Officer 2nd Class Sean Davis, a watchstander at Sector Delaware Bay. “The quick response and communication of this good Samaritan helped save a person’s life. We encourage people to look out for their fellow mariners and contact the Coast Guard immediately if they see any signs of danger.”
