CG Cutter Vigorous Gets New Skipper

CAPE MAY — Cmdr. Brendan C. McPherson assumed command of the Cape May-based Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous on Tuesday, July 28 from Cmdr. Paul A. Flynn.
Vice Adm. Robert J. Papp presided over the change of command ceremony on the pier at the Coast Guard Training Center with Vigorous moored alongside.
McPherson’s previous assignment was as press assistant to the Commandant of the Coast Guard at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Flynn has served as the Vigorous’ commanding officer since April 2007 and will be relieved by McPherson.
