Banner Plane Pilot Turns Self In To Police

CAPE MAY – The pilot who landed a plane on a Coast Guard beach turned himself in to police June 27, according to a joint release from Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Cape May Police Chief Anthony Marino. 
James P. Dahlen Jr., 51, of Court House contacted Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office June 27 and made arrangements to turn himself in. Dahlen Jr. was then arrested without incident at the Prosecutor’s Office, and was transported to Cape May Police Department.  
A plane owned by Paramount Air Service landed on the beach of the Coast Guard Base June 24 at 7:52 p.m., and the pilot, later identified as Dahlen Jr., fled the scene. Dahlen Jr. was unable to be located and Cape May Police issued a warrant for his arrest. 
Dahlen Jr. was charged with criminal trespass, fourth degree, and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings. According to Sutherland, additional charges may be pending against Dahlen Jr.   
The incident is an ongoing investigation, according to Sutherland, and the investigation is being led by the Coast Guard Investigative Service, along with the FBI, Department of Transportation Office of the Inspector General, and the Federal Aviation Administration. 
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
