Christmas in Stone Harbor will celebrate “Christmas Around the World” with special events, entertainment, and merchant sales on Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27 and 28.
This is one of the biggest events of the year. Most events will take place on the 96th Street stage at the Chamber of Commerce building.
Friday and Saturday will feature Strolling Carolers, a Caricature Artist, food vendors, and Photos with Santa at the firehouse.
Children can stop by the post office and write a letter to Santa and the postal clerk will put it in Santa’s special mailbox.
Store windows will be dressed with scenes reflecting Christmas celebrations in different countries and a Window Walking Tour is a must.
Free gift-wrapping will be available both days at Harbor Square Mall.
On Friday, Nov. 27, see Dogs on Parade, a magic show and enjoy the sounds of Evan the Vibraphonist from 2:30-5 p.m.
Friday is Hospitality Night with food stations provided by the Chamber of Commerce on 96th street and participating merchants will be offering treats.
The Duffy String Band will entertain from 7-9 p.m. This has traditionally been the bigger shopping night of the weekend.
Saturday kicks off with the Sandy Paws 5K Run and one-mile Pooch Walk to benefit the Stone Harbor Fire Department and the Animal Alliance of Cape May County.
Last year 267 people, most with their dogs at their side, participated. For details and registration form go to www.stoneharborfire.com or e-mail SandyPaws@yahoo.com
At the Stone Harbor Post Office, Steve Serwathka, New Jersey Nature Guy, will help kids make nature crafts and decorate the tree at the post office.
There will be Celebrity Readings at the stage at noon and Evan the Vibraphonist will entertain. Just Bead It on Third Avenue will host ornament-making workshops throughout the day.
As the grand finale, a Christmas Parade will wind through town starting at 7 p.m. Fire engines, decorated to reflect this year’s theme, are an amazing sight.
There is so much planned you won’t want to miss a minute of it.
