The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce officially kicks off the holiday season with a festive evening on Friday, Dec. 4.
Christmas in Middle Township family fun activities include trolley rides along Route 9, gaily decorated shops and businesses providing hospitality, food, music, entertainment, and The Tree of Life Festival, which is hosted in the Old Court House.
The Christmas Parade will march down Main Street starting at 5:30 p.m. Santa will be escorted by the Middle Township Fire Department, the US Coast Guard Color Guard and Drill Team and the MTHS Marching Band.
Follow Santa to the new firehouse where he’ll hear all your Christmas wishes. A model train display will be set up by the Marine Corps Reserve and you can drop off a toy for their “Toys for Tots” campaign.
A spectacular Holiday Light Show and sounds of the season will be provided by K&L Sound and Lighting and the Bellevue Tavern. Enjoy roasted chestnuts compliments of Raff’s Recycling and gift bags have been sponsored by Middle Township Education Association.
A Hospitality Tent will be located on Mechanic Street where you can enjoy hot chocolate and cookies provided by the Kiwanis Club and Middle Township’s Chamber of Commerce.
Stop by the library (30 Mechanic St.) where activities start at 3:30 p.m. There will be music by the MTHS Band and Choir, performances by the USCG Drill Team, a puppet show, reading of “A Christmas Carol” and much more.
Take a trolley ride along Route 9 and visit the Doctor’s Inn, American Red Cross, Our Lady of the Angels Church, First Baptist Church, Sturdy Savings Bank, Cape Bank, First United Methodist Church, McDonald’s, Cape May County Museum, and the Crow Creek Studio. Each stop has something special planned for your enjoyment.
The Tree of Life display and live auction has become the centerpiece of the celebration by helping local public service organizations raise money through the decoration and sale of Christmas trees.
Businesses and organizations use this event as an opportunity to build holiday spirit within their establishments by designing and decorating a Christmas tree, which is donated for display and auction at the Tree of Life.
Trees can be viewed from 6-9 p.m. and the live auction of the trees is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. There is a $1 donation requested from adults.
The Coast 98.7 will broadcast live from the steps of the Court House. They’ll have lots of give-aways, too.
