By Sponsored Content

The 30th Annual Spring Luncheon will be held by the Christ Child Society on Sunday, April 27. Everyone is invited to come and spend an afternoon of fun, fellowship and music where all proceeds benefit children in need. The event will be held in the Penthouse Ballroom of the Grand Hotel, 1045 Beach Avenue, Cape May. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children and may be purchased by calling Kay at 609-729-5773 until April 20.
Festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a social time, and a delicious three course lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Prior to sitting down for lunch, guests will be able to purchase chances on a splendid array of gift baskets that have been donated by members and local businesses. Also, tickets will be sold on raffle prizes and a 50/50 drawing. This year the first prize on the raffle will be a $300 VISA gift card, second prize is a $100 gift certificate to the Washington Inn, and third prize is a $100 Wawa gift card. Door prizes will also be awarded. Entertainment will follow by the Cape May County String Band which will be enjoyed by all.
The Spring Luncheon is the largest fundraiser of the year held by the Christ Child Society of Cape May County. Members have been busy soliciting local business people for gift certificates and gift basket merchandise. Christ Child members also donate items to make up unique baskets that will appeal to all. In the above picture, Mary Newman, Chairperson, of Wildwood Crest (left) and Janet Kerrigan, co-Chairperson, of Cape May (right) are shown with two of the baskets.
The Christ Child Society is a national, all-volunteer organization that helps children in need. The Cape May County chapter works through local agencies and schools that contact us when there is a need. Last year, over 400 coats and hats were purchased, and shoe vouchers, socks and sweatpants were supplied. CCS has a layette program which provides a gift bag of items needed by a newborn, such as diapers, blankets, towels and stretch outfits. Many of the items such as afghans, sweaters and hats are handmade by members and associates. Cribs and car seats are provided to keep babies safe and must be purchased new due to Federal regulations.
Other gently used baby items, especially pack-n-plays, high-chairs and clothing are always solicited by the organization. Cash donations are appreciated and can be mailed to P.O. Box 882, North Cape May, NJ 08204. If more information is needed, please call 609-602-7682.
