What we’ll remember…
Elizabeth Appleyard and Drew Bakley were married on Oct. 12, 2013 at the Kindle Family Farm in Woodbine. The reception was held in the farm’s barn immediately following the ceremony.

My husband and I both grew up in Sea Isle City and wanted to get married where it would be convenient for our family and friends. When our friend, Kathy Kindle, agreed to let us use her beautiful barn for our wedding, we knew it was meant to be. Close to home, a beautiful canvas, and easy for family and friends to access.
We had a total of five bridesmaids and five groomsmen. I am the oldest of five girls, so my bridal party was premade for me! The girls wore a high wasted chiffon coral skirt and a three-quarter sleeve ivory lace shirt that was sheer in the back and lined in the front with cowboy boots of their choice. Drew’s family is a lot smaller than mine so he had four of our good friends stand for him along with his brother Dan as his Best Man. The groomsmen wore a gray tuxedo with coral tie and vest and ivory shirt.
After the ceremony, we served an array of appetizers both butlered and stationed. Our entrees were all stationed in separate horse stalls!
My husband and I did almost all of the decorating ourselves, so to see everything come together was simply magical. I know that is a statement most brides say of their wedding day, but along with relief that we survived the months of planning and decorating, I was truly stunned at the final product.
Drew and I had our first dance as newlyweds to Zac Brown Band’s “Whatever It Is”. And the rain is something that we could not go without mentioning. It poured all night. Busses and cars were stuck in the mud. My husband and groomsmen went out to push the busses out of the mud, and to no avail, ended up covered in mud and soaking wet themselves. When it rains on your wedding day, it’s supposed to be good luck. When it monsoons on your wedding day, it’s just more fun!
I remember at one point during our barn/tent wedding watching the rain seep up from the ground and start to surround the dance floor, and I thought that was it. In less than five seconds we had hay on the ground, to soak up the rain, and guests in knee high rubber boots, dancing and singing like little kids! It was such a refreshing and surreal moment.
We used the acronym B.B.B.U.T on our Koozie favors to represent how “Bad Breath Brought Us Together.” When Drew walked me home that first night, we met he was eating garlic parmesan potato chips. After he kissed me I couldn’t seem to get that taste out of my mouth. As the story goes…”Bad Breath Brought Us Together!”
We honeymooned in Rincon, Puerto Rico the next day and stayed at the beautiful Villa Bella Apartment. We were there for a week and enjoyed the magnificent views, weather and fishing that the island had to offer.
Cape May – The number one reason I didn’t vote for Donald Trump was January 6th and I found it incredibly sad that so many Americans turned their back on what happened that day when voting. I respect that the…
