COURT HOUSE – The baby watch in the Maternity and Newborn Center at Cape Regional Medical Center has a regular busy ebb and flow of moms, dads, and newborns. However, on 12-12-12 there was a heightened expectancy of a unique birth on a unique date. What were the chances of a baby being delivered on 12-12-12 at 12:12 p.m.? Well, as it happens to be, pretty good!
Little Ken Chen rests in his mother’s arms as his proud father, Jing Chen of Rio Grande, NJ keeps watch. Yam Ping Chen was not expecting the arrival of her first born son for a few more weeks, but as it is with little ones – they can do unexpected things. The baby was born by cesarean section on Dec. 12, 2012 – and after all the excitement of the birth was finalized – the staff realized that the time of birth was 12:12 p.m.
When asked how the Mr. and Mrs. Chen felt about the circumstances surrounding the birth of their son, they shared, “Very happy, but not expecting all this excitement.” They also shared that the baby’s name Ken is significant in that it means strong, handsome and born of fire – the number 12 represents perfect governance or leadership. Perhaps we have a strong leader in our future. The couple also has two daughters.
The date 12-12-12 is the last repetitive date of the century and will not reoccur until 12-12-2112 – 100 years from now – a date and time as unique as little Ken, himself. Congratulations to the Chen Family.
