CAPE MAY – Cape May’s 86th Queen Maysea and her court will be honored at Cape May Convention Hall July 31 at 7 p.m. when the new queen is crowned during the 86th Annual Queen Maysea Coronation.
Queen Maysea, Sydney Duran, 10, will enter fifth grade at Cape May City Elementary School this fall. Sydney loves to watch baking shows, sew and play her ukulele. Her future ambition is to become a fashion designer.
This year’s princesses in the queen’s princess court are Juliette Archer, Jasmine Black, Abigail Bomba, Zoe Cardillo, McKenna Douglass, Chloe Duran, Quinlan Hassay, Catherine Jennings, Eden Jane Kobielnik, Corinna LaPuma, Rosa LaPuma, Victoria Laurenzi, Anastasia McPherson-Ohrenich, Lily Olexa, Hailey Serra, Georgia Shutter, Emelia Walls and Grace Watson. This year’s flower girls are Marin Donahue, Paisley Elias, Sophia Gilliam and Haddie Watson.
The festivities are free and open to the public with Mayor Clarence Lear of Historic Cape May presiding over the ceremony. Mary Stewart, chief outreach strategist of the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts is the mistress of ceremony.
Last year’s queen Kaitlyn Flynn will also participate in the coronation and be recognized for her outstanding one-year reign.
