Cape May Tech, Fire Training Academy Link for Cadet Course

CREST HAVEN – The Cape May County Technical High School and the Cape May County Fire Training Academy have partnered to deliver a Cadet Firefighter course of instruction to Law and Public Safety students of the Cape May County Technical High School.
According to a release, the Cadet Firefighter course will introduce students to the fire science pathway of the Law and Public Safety career cluster and strengthen their understanding of community service thereby making them assets to their home communities.
Certified instructors of the academy will deliver a 40-hour course of instruction to include, but not limited to: fire department organization, safety, personal protective equipment, self-contained breathing apparatus, tools and equipment, forcible entry, ladders, ventilation, ropes and knots, search and rescue, fire behavior and suppression and response and size-up.
The course will run from March through May, and the students will earn a certification of course completion. The program has 19 sophomores, 14 juniors and 19 seniors enrolled.
