Cape May Student Receives Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship

CAPE MAY – The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that in 2015 it has awarded a record 86 scholarships with a value totaling just over $400,000. In just over 20 years, the Foundation’s scholarship program has paid out more than $3 million to help families of Coast Guard members achieve their goals of higher education.
James Holston, son of BMC James Holston was awarded a Coast Guard Foundation Scholarship. Holston, from Cape May, NJ is a graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School.
The Coast Guard Foundation Scholarships are intended to benefit the children of enlisted men and women who are serving or have served in the U.S. Coast Guard, whether active duty, reserve, retired or deceased.
“We all know the sacrifices made every day by the brave men and women of the Coast Guard, but the families also make tremendous sacrifices as well,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “It is an honor for the Coast Guard Foundation to be able to give back by investing in the futures of these remarkable young men and women as they pursue their dreams of higher education.”
